Manchester United shocked the world as they mounted an improbable comeback against PSG who had a 2-0 lead after the first leg. Romelu Lukaku scored two goals in the second leg which propelled Marcus Rashford to score the go ahead goal in the 94th minute. Since Mourinho’s firing ManU has played superbly and have a real chance of winning it all this year if they can continue to get production from Lukaku.
Although they’ve lost they’re 2 of their last 3 in the Premier League Tottenham has had a sensational year and despite the absence of Harry Kane early on in the season the Hotspur’s still surged behind Heung-Min Son and showed why they’re capable of winning Champions League. The Hotspur’s dominated Borussia Dortmund in their matchup as they won 4-0. Kane scored the sole goal in the 48th minute of the second leg which put the nail in the coffin against Dortmund.
Leaders in La Liga didn’t get the results they wanted as their first leg against Lyon ended at 0-0. However, Barcelona has the second leg at home and it is incredibly difficult to envision Lionel Messi losing this early on in Champions League. Barcelona has been looking in good form as they’ve won their last 3 games, twice against Real Madrid and the other coming against Sevilla.
Despite having a tough task in the second leg against Bayern Munich, last year’s Champions League finalist Liverpool has a good chance of advancing to the next round. Even though they’ve drawn in 3 of their last 4 matches. Liverpool has the fire power with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane to pile goals on any team in the world. The key to Liverpool’s success is goalkeeper Alisson who in his last 5 appearances has not conceded a goal.
Unstoppable forces as of late winning the last 8 games they’ve played. This spurt pushed them into first place in the Premier League leading Liverpool by 1 point. After an immensely entertaining first leg against FC Schalke 04 which gave them a 3-2 lead, Man City will look to put a nail in the coffin behind leading EPL scorer Sergio Agüero.
